The Interwoven Grid Coat No.01 is constructed in two acts: first, the structure; then, the intervention.

The entire coat begins as an open grid, hand-crocheted from 100% wool to establish its silhouette and architectural framework. This first layer creates a continuous field of negative space—a structure designed to receive what comes next.

A second layer is then worked entirely by hand across the grid using multicoloured merino wool. Individual lines travel vertically through the surface, shifting in colour, density and direction as they move across the garment. Rather than being applied as decoration, this second crochet becomes part of the construction itself, transforming the underlying grid into a richly dimensional textile.

On the right front panel, the established rhythm deliberately changes. Lines begin to curve and move away from the vertical system, creating a moment of interruption within the composition. The designer's initials are integrated by hand into this section, becoming part of the textile rather than an applied signature.

The generous silhouette and open construction allow the coat to respond continuously to the body. Light, movement and whatever is worn beneath remain visible through the grid, adding another changing layer to the composition.

Designed for both men and women and constructed entirely by hand, No.01 preserves the variations that emerge through its making. The technique may be revisited, but the placement, colour and interventions of this composition belong to this piece.
