Chromatic Assembly Kimono No.01 expands the language of the Chromatic Assembly series into a full-length garment.

Constructed entirely from individually hand-crocheted circular modules, the piece builds colour, transparency and movement through repetition. Each element is made from premium cotton yarn left over from previous creations and joined by hand, leaving deliberate negative spaces between the modules.

There is no fixed colour palette. The available remnants determine which colours enter the piece; their placement is composed during the making process. What begins as a collection of disconnected fragments gradually becomes a single, fluid surface.

The generous length and wide sleeves amplify the movement of the modular construction. As the body moves, the spaces between the circles continually open and close, allowing skin, clothing and light to become part of the garment.

Designed for both men and women, it can be worn open as a coat, wrapped and belted, or layered over contrasting garments. Its transparency allows each styling to alter the visual composition.

The design can be made again, but this composition cannot. Every future Chromatic Assembly Coat will begin with a different collection of leftover yarns, creating its own arrangement of colour and placement.

Part of Ebru Gurlek Fully Handcrafted Apparel, it is a statement piece built slowly from what remained.
