Constructed Time No.01 Crochet Coat

This one-of-a-kind coat is the result of a long-term creative process begun in 2021 and developed over several years, accumulating approximately 300 hours of handcraft. It was created outside the logic of seasons, trends, or production cycles, allowing time itself to become part of the construction.

The piece began from two minimal triangular origin points, positioned on either side of the body. From these points, the entire coat was grown outward, stitch by stitch, into a single continuous form. There are no seams joining separate elements, with one deliberate exception: a central square opening, whose gap was formed gradually during the construction. This opening was intentionally left visible, allowing the observer to witness the crochet structure itself and to make a direct connection with the act of making.

The surface spans approximately 2.5 square meters of dense handwork. Exceptionally small, compact stitches were used throughout, resulting in a textile with no visible holes or gaps. The thickness of the fabric records the process of its making — not only hours of work, but also pauses, returns, and structural decisions that remain subtly present in the surface.

The sleeves were formed directly from the armholes that the construction allowed and were added only after the main body reached its final volume. This required careful recalibration to preserve balance, continuity, and weight distribution. Each sleeve concludes with a triangular geometry at the cuff, echoing the original origin points from which the entire coat emerged. Because of this construction logic, the coat cannot be fully understood from images or from a distance. Its structure reveals itself through proximity, movement, and touch.

The material is a pure merino and alpaca blend, selected for its natural warmth, resilience, and longevity. No synthetic or plastic-based fibers are used. The yarn supports both architectural structure and softness, allowing the coat to hold its form while remaining responsive to the body.

Due to its construction method, density, and scale, this piece is not repeatable. Its logic cannot be reverse-engineered, and its process cannot be accelerated. It exists as a singular work, shaped by time rather than efficiency.

This is not seasonal outerwear.
It is textile architecture — a wearable work defined by continuity, patience, and authorship.
