A classic herringbone coat, structurally intact, interrupted by instinct.
The original garment was already complete — fully lined, beautifully tailored, traditionally composed. Its pattern carries order, rhythm, and restraint. Polished silver buttons punctuate the front, reinforcing its classic, almost formal character.
I chose not to redesign it.
I chose to disturb it.
The left side remains quiet. I followed the herringbone itself, allowing the red thread to move in dialogue with the existing weave — respecting its direction, responding to its logic.
The right side becomes the opposite: a controlled chaos. There was no sketch. No mapped plan. The composition evolved as I worked — guided by emotion, by lived disorder, by the tension between structure and impulse.
Hand-crocheted flowers, made from 100% alpaca yarn, emerge and connect through a continuous red line. Each element was placed instinctively, not measured. The intervention concludes where the title is stitched — a subtle archival mark at the lower back.
Additional materials were introduced at the sleeves, hem, and neckline — lace and textural details that bring a quiet romantic undertone to the piece. These touches are intimate rather than decorative; they reveal themselves only upon proximity.
Approximately 50–60 hours of hand work.
The original coat remains present.
But it is no longer the same.
